Band formed in September '1989, by George Frizzo (bass and vocals), Alberto Lopes (guitar) and Bruno Gabai drums). In the beginning of 1990, Fábio Andrey joined the band in the 2nd guitar and assumed the vocals, and in the same year Insanity released its first DT "In Search of Reason", instantly starting to get recognition in the underground scene of the Northeast of Brazil. In april' 1991 they recorded their first 7"EP "Cryogenization" (Whiplash Rec., Brazil) which brought them up to the next level, with comparisons to Sepultura of that time. The first full length CD "Phobia" was recorded in 1993 and showed a more mature Insanity, approaching to Technical Death Metal, in the style of bands such as Death, Entombed, Morbid Angel and Coroner. However, the negotiations with the labels (Heavy Metal Rock/Rock Machine) delayed the releasing of the CD until 1995. Nevertheless, “Phobia” is still today the more popular album of the band. In the meantime, Insanity has participated of a couple of compilations, as “Projeto Mythus” and the tribute to Dorsal Atlantica “Omnisciens”. In 1996, the vocalist Fábio Andrey left the band to join The Mist. Insanity kept on going as a trio, with George returning to vocals and Bruno as backing vocals. The line up changes made them feel free to experiment more in their music, including Industrial elements, which helped to build a more original music, with more personal characteristic, that they called Industrial Death Metal. The result was the 2nd CD “Mind Crisis” released in 1999 and obtained excellent reviews. With that CD, Insanity did their first Brazilian tour, playing in the most regions of the country. In 2000, Cleiton Martin joined the band in the 2nd guitar, but because of personal problems, Alberto couldn’t tour with the band, so it stayed a live trio, but a 4-piece in studio. After working together for 2 years new material that would be the third CD of the band, they decided to split, because of the increasing “personal problems”. Today, Bruno Gabai and George Frizzo play together in the Grindcore band Siege of Hate, as well as Bruno plays drums in Somberlain and George plays in the experimental/instrumental band Fossil.
